Tractor runs over inert artillery shell, near Adams

ADAMS, NEB. - The Gage County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of a suspicious device in a field, in rural Gage County.
Deputies were sent to a field near Adams around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, as a man was working a field In a tractor, when he hit something - he described the item as an artillery round. Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad responded to the scene and determined the item appeared to be an artillery shell.
Nebraska Air National Guard was then called to the scene to destroy the shell which was determined to be "inert."
The item was highly corroded and appeared to have been on the property for some time. It is unknown how the item had come to be on the property.
