Former Doane track star qualifies for 2024 Paralympics

Former Doane track and field athlete Taleah Williams qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

CRETE, Neb. -- Former Doane track and field athlete Taleah Williams qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Williams will represent Team USA in the long jump as she makes her third appearance at the Paralympic Games, having competed in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020. 

Williams competed for the Tigers during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, earning All-GPAC honors in both the indoor and outdoor seasons for the long jump. She qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in both years. 

Competing in the T47 division, Williams took fifth place in the long jump in Rio de Janeiro while placing fourth in Tokyo. She competed in the World Championships in 2017, 2019 and 2023. In the 2023 World Championships, Williams earned a bronze medal and took gold in the 2017 event. 

The 2024 Paralympic Games will be held August 28 through September 8.
