Diode Communications completes project aimed at giving rural homes high speed internet

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Neb. -- Diode Communications has completed its Jefferson County Rural Fiber broadband project, offering high speed internet to rural homes.
The project is now bringing world-class fiber optic broadband services to approximately 100 rural homes via 46 miles of buried fiber via the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program (Round 2).
The homes covered in the project are located in areas south and west of Plymouth to areas south and east of Jansen, to include Rock Creek Station Historical Park.
“Diode Communications is proud of our many years of service to the community and pleased that we have been able to partner with Jefferson County ARPA funding and the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program to bring fiber services to unserved and underserved areas of the county,” said Randy Sandman, Diode Communications President.
Diode’s Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program Round 2 grant was unique in that it was a Public/Private partnership with Jefferson County using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding designated for fiber broadband improvements and the State of Nebraska NBBP administered by the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
“We are pleased to have had the opportunity to be part of this public/private partnership with our local fiber broadband company, Diode Communications,” said Mark Schoenrock, Jefferson County Commissioner. “We look forward to seeing more fiber broadband expansion this summer and fall via Round 3 of the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program which we have again committed ARPA funds in partnership with Diode."
