Capital Campaign for school furnishings, past the halfway mark

Anonymous donor, matching plans helping to raise funds

BEATRICE – The Beatrice Education Foundation has made some positive gains toward a goal of raising $1.3 million dollars to pay for all new furniture in the new elementary school building to open this coming school year.

That includes mobile collaborative student desks, chairs, art equipment, music equipment, cafeteria tables, and special needs devices. 

With an anonymous donation of $110,000 and some contributions of smaller amounts, the total raised now comes to just over $650,000.

There is also an anonymous donor who providing a matching donation through May 31st that doubles the amount of each individual donation given to help reach the goal of the campaign. 

Doris Martin, co-chair of the Capital Campaign said “As the anticipation grows for the new building, we have had some pretty special people step up and contribute and the list keeps growing”. 

Some retired teachers are participating in the Honor the Past, Provide for the Future campaign to equip the Library Innovation Center for preK  through second grade students.
