Dennis Schaardt says he’ll run for the District 1 position in the Nebraska Legislature, serving the southeast corner of the state.

Current State Senator Julie Slama previously announced that she will not seek another term.   She was appointed to the legislature by then-Governor Pete Ricketts and won election to the seat in November, of 2020.  Her term expires next January.

Schaardt has served as a county commissioner, mayor, city councilman and a volunteer fire chief….and has served on several local boards.

He says he plans to give priority to state spending issues, taxes and protecting life at conception.
