LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police said a suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of a north Lincoln UPS Store and a nearby business wasn’t hazardous.

According to police, a man dropped off a package addressed to the White House at the UPS store just north of 27th and Superior on Tuesday around 3:40 p.m. The man said the box contained plush toys.

The employee saw religious words and ‘no airmail’ written on the package. After observing the man return to the store several times and look through the window, the employee called police.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue and the bomb squad responded and evacuated the store and nearby Crunch Fitness as a precaution.

LFR ultimately determined the package contained plush toys and religious literature. Police contacted the 49-year-old man who verified these items were in the package. No citations were issued.
