Scholarship support to SCC, from NPPD

LINCOLN - Nebraska Public Power District has presented some of the proceeds raised from an annual golf tournament to Southeast Community College.
Checks in the amount of $5,000 each for the Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses’ general scholarship funds were presented by NPPD to the college in Lincoln Tuesday, at a monthly SCC Board meeting.
The funds come from the 32nd Annual Nebraska Open Golf Tournament held in September in Columbus. The event each year raises scholarship support for community college students in Nebraska.
Southeast Community College officials on Tuesday celebrated the school’s 50th birthday. SCC formed in Milford, Nebraska, back in 1973.
The college now has campuses at Milford, Beatrice and Lincoln…and established a half-dozen learning centers in communities throughout its 15-county service area. In recent years, SCC has undertaken an ambitious modernization program which has resulted in several new facilities on its three campuses.
One of the most recent is a new residence hall on the Lincoln campus set to open in January, called Woodhaven Hall. SCC Vice President of Marketing and Public Information, Stu Osterthun says it will have space to house up to 250 students….with 100 spaces already spoken for.
