BEATRICE – A 27-year-old Wymore man who failed to show for sentencing, committing a crime while on the run… then being arrested on a warrant, is going to state prison.

Skylar Hutchison was sentenced Wednesday to consecutive terms totaling four-and-a-half years in Nebraska prison. Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner issued the sentences across three criminal cases. Hutchison was also ordered to serve a year of post-release supervision.

"There's plenty of evidence to indicate that if you're out of jail, you're committing crimes and causing difficulty for the citizens of Gage County...with really no remorse. You just sit here and tell me you're willing to take responsibilities for your actions. You don't really consider the time and trouble that you've caused everybody in your life....including the citizens of Beatrice, the court system, law enforcement, those you assaulted, those you put in danger and those you've stolen from."

Hutchison was convicted of methamphetamine possession, theft, theft by receiving stolen property, and third-degree domestic assault. One count of making a terroristic threat and another theft charge were earlier dismissed. Hutchison was scheduled to be sentenced August 24th, but failed to appear.

The theft convictions involved a cell phone, a car and a pickup stolen in Lincoln.

The judge noted that Hutchison has a remaining open case in Lancaster County…and was on probation from two cases in the Gage County Court.
