LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A former Lincoln sports writer, currently serving a 30-50 year sentence for sexually assaulting a minor in Nemaha County, was ordered to spend more time behind bars on related charges.

On Monday, Lancaster County District Court Judge Susan Strong sentenced 51-year-old Brian Rosenthal to 4-7 years in prison for attempted possession of child pornography and two counts of attempted child abuse. The sentence must be served consecutively to his previous sentence. Rosenthal now won’t be eligible for parole until 2038.

As first reported by the Lincoln Journal Star, Rosenthal reportedly used his status and connection with the victim’s family to initiate a relationship with a boy, then 15. He reportedly used social media accounts to reach out to the teenager’s friends.
