BEATRICE – A Manhattan, Kansas man was killed when his sport utility vehicle went out of control and crashed, two miles west of the city.

49-year-old Monte Busch of Manhattan was driving a 2006 Jeep Cherokee west on U.S Highway 24 when the vehicle failed to make a curve and entered the north ditch.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the Jeep struck a KDOT sign, went into the westbound lanes, into the median, then struck another sign, rolling over onto its top.

Busch, who was not wearing a safety restraint, died at the scene of the accident.  The mishap occurred Saturday, at about 8:45 p.m.
