GENEVA, Neb. -- Local southeast Nebraska stations, including Ol' Red 99.5, are providing farmers with a thank you hotdog meal during harvest season.

The event spans across different towns including Beatrice, Geneva, Jansen, and Elk Creek. There are 15 locations this year which is considerably more than prior years.

“I am at the Aurora Coop in Geneva and we are hosting one of our harvest Bonanza meal serving events. So, we have farmers that bring trucks through on this scale and we will serve meals to them,” said Tiffany Henrichs, an Ol' Red 99.5 Salesperson. “We’ve got volunteers here from Perennial Power and Fillmore Central FFA. We also have Coop employees who come in and grab meals to deliver to farmers in the field.”

Volunteers from Perennial Power, the Fillmore Central FFA and Ol' Red wrapped hot dogs and prepared the meals for the farmers coming in to weigh grain.

“So, we have got our bags that are pre-stuffed with all of our goodies. So we have got chips, desert, ketchup and mustard and then we’ve got swag from a lot of our sponsors,” said Henrichs. “So, we’ve got flyers, coupons, clips, pens and all sorts of goodies in there. We have been busy wrapping hotdogs for the day so we have got Wilber Wieners from Karpisek’s market and we will grab water from Landmark and this will go out the door to feed somebody lunch.”

Tiffany Henrichs said that this event is a great way to show appreciation for the farmers.

“S, this is a really good show of appreciation from our local producers, both from the station and from all of our sponsors involved,” said Henrichs. “Really showing, ‘Hey, we support you. We have your back.’ And if this can shave a little bit of time out of somebody's day, so they don’t have to stop and get some lunch and they can get back sooner to their family at the end of the night. That’s kind of what we are about.”

Anybody can come in to pick up some meals, including family members, workers and others. There are more events Thursday in Hebron.
