BEATRICE – At the end of water sampling of Nebraska lakes for this year, Nebraska Health officials say three more bodies of water were placed on alert status, for the presence of toxic blue-green algae.

The lakes include Iron Horse Trail Lake in Pawnee County….Willow Creek Reservoir in Pierce County….and Glenn Cunningham Lake in Douglas County.

Even though water quality testing is coming to a close for the season, state health officials say harmful algae blooms can persist into the fall.

Weekly sampling has been conducted at 55 public lake sites since May 1st.
