TECUMSEH - Johnson County District Court Judge Rick Schreiner sentenced an Omaha woman to two years in prison for Criminal Possession of a Financial Transaction Device and two years for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument.

The charges against 33-year-old Kari Bass stem from an incident that occurred on August 15, 2022.

The sentences will run at the same time. Bass will receive credit for time already served.  She was also sentenced to twelve months post release supervision.

Bass was arrested by Johnson County officers following an August 2022 traffic stop in Tecumseh, where a deputy noticed a vehicle northbound on Highway 50 without a functioning headlight.

After the stop, the officer found numerous counterfeit bills and several debit and credit cards belonging to other persons, during a search of the vehicle.

A total of $1,510 in counterfeit currency and 8 debit or credit cards were recovered.  The cards were found in a wallet belonging to Bass.  The counterfeit bills were found in the wallet with some scattered in the vehicle.
