NEBRASKA CITY, Neb - Nebraska City eliminated Beatrice with a 4-0 win on Monday night.

In a true pitchers dual, only three total hits went on the scoreboard in the first five and a half innings. Cael Kreiful took the mound for Nebraska City while lefty Gage Wolter got the start for Beatrice.

Kreiful struck out 13 total batters, fanning eight of the first 11 Beatrice batters he faced, but worked his way out of jams in the fifth and sixth. Beatrice left runners on first and second and second in third in each consecutive inning, only netting two hits in the sequence.

Things would go awry for Beatrice defensively in the bottom of the sixth -- Josh Buhr dropped two pop fly's in right field that led to two runs scoring, just to be followed by catcher Connor Hamilton and third baseman Ty Weichel misplaying a pop up on the infield, scoring another set of insurance runs to give Nebraska City a 4-0 lead.

The win went to Kreiful who tossed seven scoreless innings allowing two hits, striking out 13. Gage Wolter takes the loss for Beatrice.

Nebraska City now takes on Auburn, with the winner facing Plattsmouth in the district final. Beatrice ends their legion year at 18-13.
