Pillen announces resignation of DHHS CEO
Gov. Jim Pillen announced the resignation of the CEO of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Gov. Jim Pillen announced the resignation of the CEO of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Chief Executive Officer Dannette Smith's last day will be Aug. 4.
Pillen said that Smith was appointed as CEO in January 2019 by former Gov. Pete Ricketts.
"CEO Smith has provided leadership to DHHS throughout the start of my administration," Pillen said. "I am grateful for her public service and dedication to improving the lives of Nebraskans."
Smith said that it has been an honor to serve as the CEO of the state's largest agency the last four years.
"I have spent every day challenging myself and my team to work with passion, integrity, and intentionality because the people of Nebraska depend on us," she said. "Not only do I fell a great sense of accomplishment about what we have achieved, I look forward to taking the energy and the spirit of my fellow Nebraskans with me as take on the new challenges in my next chapter."
Pillen said he will announce the appointment of an interim director soon, until they find a permanent CEO.
