LINCOLN, Neb. -- One person was pronounced dead in a Lincoln car accident.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office said officers were sent to the 1100 block of S 14th St. for a report of a single vehicle crash around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers said the driver of a 1953 Chevy lost control of the vehicle, going off the road and into a ditch. The vehicle reportedly collided into a wooden utility pole.

According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle was 20-year-old Alexander Schoneweis, of Lincoln. Schoneweis was reportedly the only person in the vehicle and was taken out of the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a lap seatbelt was used in the crash but no other safety equipment, like airbags, was used. Alcohol and drugs are reportedly not a factor to the crash but speed could have been.
