BEATRICE - It took two extra holes of golf at Monument Shadows Golf Club in Gering, but Trey Baehr has become the first golf state champion at Beatrice in 30 years.
Baehr carded a 144 for the tourney, tying Norris Titan Travis Tilford before the tournament was decided in a playoff. Despite entering the day with a share of the lead, Baehr would fall behind by three strokes with six holes to go before battling back to force a playoff.
Both Baehr and Tilford parred the first playoff hole, before Baehr sealed the deal with a short putt for the win on the second.
Baehr has plans to continue his golf career at Southeast Community College.
