HADDAM, Kan. --  For those driving on Highway 36 near the Washington and Republic county line, they will see extra construction trucks on the road.

Wind Turbines are going up just west of Haddam, Kansas which is part of the High Banks Wind Energy Center.

The project is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy and will have a capacity of approximately 600 megawatts of renewable energy which would make it the largest wind farm development in Kansas.

According to Sara Cassidy, manager of communications for NextEra, the wind farm will cover parts of Washington and Republic counties and include 233 wind turbines, with each turbine using up about an acre of land.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
