LPD: no charges against parents of student who brought weapon to school
Authorities in the metro area said that there will be no charges against the parents of a child who brought a gun to school.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Authorities in the metro area said that there will be no charges against the parents of a child who brought a gun to school.
The Lincoln Police Department said that after an investigation into an incident that happened Feb. 24, where a 10-year-old student was found to be in possession of a handgun at an elementary school in Lincoln.
Police said the investigation revealed insufficient probable cause to cite the parents of the student who brought the weapon to school.
LPD said measures were in place to secure the firearm, including a cable gunlock at the residence, even though the student was able to get around it.
The Police Department said they would like to thank their partners at Lincoln Public Schools for their prompt response and to the student who reported the incident to school staff.
