LINCOLN, Neb. -- A standoff occurred in Lincoln after a man reportedly pulled out a handgun on a woman during a disagreement about a parking spot. 

The Lincoln Police Department said officers were sent to to the 900 block of Washington St. around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday for a reported threats complaint.

Officials said the caller reported that she was having a disagreement about a parking space with an unknown man before he threatened her with a handgun.

Police said they saw a man that matched the reported description of the suspect on the second-floor balcony of a four-plex. They reportedly tried to talk to the man but he went inside of the apartment instead.

According to authorities, the man was 34-year-old Jeffrey Howard. Officers reported that there were two children, ages 10 and seven, inside of the apartment with Howard. The children reportedly belong to Howard's acquaintance.

LPD said they were trying to talk with Howard from 5:10 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. before he finally came out of the apartment at approximately 8:30 p.m. Howard brought the children out with him and was then taken into custody.

Officers said the children were given back to their mother and there were no injuries reported.

According to authorities, Howard was lodged in jail for false imprisonment, terroristic threats, and resisting arrest.
