BEATRICE - Beatrice swept their opponent for the second game in a row, knocking off Seward on Thursday night.

The Lady Orange knocked off Seward by a score of 44-26 and the boys won a thriller in overtime 52-49.

In the girls game, Seward didn't convert a field goal until the closing minutes of the first quarter and Beatrice held them scoreless in the second quarter entirely, leading 21-3 at the half. Seward found some offensive rhythm in the second half, but Beatrice forced 26 Seward turnovers, never letting the game get closer than nine points.

Beatrice was led in scoring by Addie Hatcliff who dropped a career high 26 points. The Lady O improve to 8-1 with the win.

In the boys game, Seward controlled most of the way, leading by nine at half. Seward shot the three 7 of 14, while Beatrice had one of its worst nights from downtown going just 1 of 9. However, one of their best three point shooters made plays driving to the hoop.

After Seward struggled to make free throws, Beatrice cut the deficit to six with a minute left and Shelton Crawford tied the game with seven seconds left.

Beatrice went on to win in overtime. The Orangemen improve to 6-3.

Both teams are back at it next Friday for a road game at Plattsmouth.
