Concerns over weather cause sports postponements across southeast Nebraska

As Nebraska deals with a bit of wintry weather Thursday, many schools are erring on the side of caution and pushing sports contests back.
Although parts of southeast Nebraska, closer to the Kansas broder has seen rain today with temperatures just above freezing during the day, temperatures dipping back below freezing tonight and leading to slick conditions on the roads have many concerned about road trips for visiting teams.
A bit further north, closer to I-80 lower temperatures throughout the day have kept roads slick for most of the day.
Included on the list of postponements is Sterling at Deshler basketball. The games were scheduled to be broadcast on Ol' Red 99.5 tonight. No rescheduled date has been determined yet. Once a new date is announced, Ol' Red 99.5 will attempt to broadcast the games, depending on schedule conflicts with other sports broadcasts already scheduled.
Fairbury wrestling has also moved its matches for the day. The Fairbury boys were supposed to host Tri County and Fillmore Central at a triangular. That will now take place Friday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. The Fairbury girls wrestling team was set to be at Centennial tonight, but will wrestle there tomorrow beginning at 6 p.m.
Wilber-Clatonia's basketball games against Raymond Central have also been postponed until Friday, Dec. 9 with JV starting at 4:30 p.m.
Some schools districts, like Shickley ended the school day early at 2 p.m. Fillmore Central cancelled classes for the day.
