Ashland-Greenwood tops Syracuse, 59-54

ASHLAND, NE - The Syracuse Rockets fell just short against the Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays in the Subdistrict C1-1 Boys Basketball Title Game on Thursday, 59-54, as heard on Otoe County Country. Syracuse dropped to 17-8 with the loss, but still earned a wildcard bid into the District Finals, while Ashland-Greenwood moved to 24-1 on the season.

The Bluejays built up a 12-point lead at recess, 36-24, but Syracuse trimmed it to a one-bucket game heading into the fourth quarter, 44-41. Ashland-Greenwood held on for the win, 59-54.

Syracuse was led by Maxwell Parde's 14 points, while both Will Janssen & Brennan Schroeder hit for ten. Cooper Westerhold drained 18 for AG, Cal Kissinger knocked down 16, and it was a 14-point performance from Derek Tonjes.

Syracuse will visit Cozad in the District C1-3 Final, while Ashland-Greenwood will host Adams Central in the District C1-2 Final.
