LINCOLN, Neb. -- A vehicle that was reported stolen in Lincoln at the end of November was found in a lake.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers, along with Lincoln Fire and Rescue, were sent to the north shore of Holmes Lake around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a vehicle submerged in water near the dam.

Officers said the vehicle did not have anyone inside of it and was completely submerged. The vehicle was taken out of the water and towed to the city impound.

According to authorities, the vehicle was first reported stolen on Nov. 21 around 9:20 p.m. from Kwik Stop, 1441 N Cotner Boulevard. The 41-year-old female owner had reported that her 2016 Ford Explorer was unlocked and running while she went inside the business. An unknown person reportedly got into her vehicle and left the area, heading south.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information can contact LPD at 402-441-6000 or Lincoln Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
