Woman arrested after reportedly taking money from register in Lincoln

A woman was arrested after she was reportedly caught stealing money from her register at a Lincoln store.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A woman was arrested after she was reportedly caught stealing money from her register at a Lincoln store.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers were sent to Hy-Vee, 5010 O St., on Sunday around 7:30 p.m. for a call of a reported theft by an employee.

According to authorities, they talked to store management and were told that a cashier was reportedly seen taking money from her register since October. The estimated total theft loss is $3,234.

Officials said the cashier was 19-year-old Sarah Alwaely. Alwaely was taken into custody and lodged in jail for theft by unlawful taking of $1,500 - $5,000.
