The Lincoln Police Department has officially closed the case of an accident where six people were killed, citing alcohol levels of more than twice the legal limit and high speeds causing the crash.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department has officially closed the case of an accident where six people were killed, citing alcohol levels of more than twice the legal limit and high speeds causing the crash.
Officials said toxicology tests that were done on the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Jonathan Kurth, showed that his blood alcohol content level was .211 at the time of the accident. Crash investigators also determined using information from the airbag controls that the vehicle was traveling at 100 mph before the crash.
Officers said the accident took place on Oct. 2 at 2:16 a.m. and officers were dispatched to 56th and Randolph St. after a 911 call from an iPhone recording. The recording indicated the owner of the phone was in a crash but was not responding to their phone.
According to authorities, they saw a black Honda Accord had left the road and crashed into a tree when it was traveling east on Randolph. There were five men in the vehicle, including Kurth, that were declared dead at the scene and a woman that was also in the vehicle was taken to the hospital for her injuries. The woman later died at the hospital.
LPD said they would like to extend their condolences to the families and friends of those involved.
