Jefferson County Sheriff investigating shots fired incident in Fairbury
FAIRBURY, NE — Authorities in southeast Nebraska are seeking help from the public as they gather information after gunshots were heard in Fairbury over the weekend.

FAIRBURY, NE — Authorities in southeast Nebraska are seeking help from the public as they gather information after gunshots were heard in Fairbury over the weekend.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says they received multiple 911 calls of gunshots heard near 6th and K Streets Saturday night.
Deputies searched the area upon arrival, but did not find any suspects or victims. Police then began interviewing residents in the area and searching for any damage to buildings or cars.
After talking to multiple people who live in the area, authorities say the gunshots most likely came from the alley that runs east and west from McDowell Street to L Street in between 6th and 7th Streets.
While searching the alley, deputies found five 9mm shell casings on the ground. No injuries were reported and deputies found no damage to cars or buildings.
Police say there were two people that neighbors saw fleeing the area to the west after gunshots were heard.
They are both described as male, with one being short and the other of average build. No other features were given.
