SEWARD, Neb. -- A 19-year-old California man was arrested for more than eight pounds of cocaine Monday, according to authorities.

The Seward County Sheriff's Office said members of the Seward County Criminal Interdiction Task Force stopped a vehicle that was heading east for two separate traffic violations.

The Sheriff's deputy said that during the stop, they became suspicious of criminal activity because of information that was provided by the operator, 19-year-old Rodrigo Figueroa of Calif.

As a result of the suspicion, the Sheriff's Office said a second deputy deployed his narcotics detection K9.

It was reported that the K9 sniffed the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert and indication to the presence of a narcotics odor.

Officials said this lead to a subsequent probable cause search where they seized 8.5 lbs. of cocaine, with the estimated street value of $100,000.

Figueroa was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp.

The Sheriff's Office said Figueroa was lodged in the Seward County Detention Center pending further court action.
