Several laptops were stolen from the new Northwest High School in Lincoln.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Several laptops were stolen from the new Northwest High School in Lincoln.
The Lincoln Police Department said that officers were dispatched, along with the Lincoln Fire and Rescue, to a report of a grass fire near northwest 38th and W Webster.
LPD said that officers who arrived at the scene found a vehicle parked nearby with its doors open.
It was reported that when officers looked in the parked vehicle, there were several MacBooks, labeled LPS. Officers said they looked around the area and found more Mac Books wrapped in a towel and tucked under a bush.
Officials said they spoke with both Lincoln Public Schools and the registered owners of the vehicles.
According to LPD, a total of 17 computers were recovered, and all were determined to be from the new NW High School.
Authorities said that when they checked the school, they found the storage closet containing the computers was entered by damaging the deadbolt.
LPS said they will be checking inventory to determine if there were any more electronics missing.
This is an ongoing investigation.
