Severe storms could break out Thursday, during late afternoon through evening
Large hail, strong winds, an isolated tornado possible
BEATRICE – Central and eastern Nebraska could see another round of severe weather, later today. National Weather Service forecasters say storms could develop in central Nebraska this afternoon, moving east through the evening hours.
The main potential threats are hail up to two inches in diameter, damaging winds up to 70-miles-per-hour, with a small chance of an isolated tornado. Locally heavy rain could fall in some spots.
The threat period is from about 4 p.m. until midnight.
Wednesday afternoon, some thunderstorm wind damage was reported in Plainview, in the northeast part of Nebraska. There was damage reported to the roof of a downtown business and some downed power lines.
Southwest and south-central Minnesota had eight separate reports to the National Weather Service of tornadoes or funnel clouds observed during severe thunderstorms, during the early Wednesday evening hours. There were no immediate reports of significant damage. Thunderstorm wind gusts did take down some power poles in southwest Minnesota.
