Weather officials are keeping their eye on the forecast to end the week in southeast Nebraska as severe storms are in the cards.
The National Weather Service's severe weather outlook currently has parts of southeast Nebraska, including Jefferson, Gage, Saline, Thayer, Fillmore, Lancaster, Pawnee and Johnson counties under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather Friday.
That same risk level extends down into northeast Kansas, including Nemaha, Marshall, Washington and Republic counties. Much of the rest of the region is under a slight risk for severe weather.
The NWS says the highest severe threat lasts from mid-afternoon Friday through Friday evening.
Hail is expected to be the main hazard with the potential for damaging winds and even a possible tornado.
