Beatrice Educational Foundation to welcome four new Hall of Fame members
Induction ceremony and scholarship program to be held this Sunday, at Beatrice High School Commons area

BEATRICE – The Beatrice Educational Foundation will induct four new members into its Hall of Fame this Sunday, during an annual scholarship program at Beatrice High School. (2 pm). Two persons are being inducted posthumously.
The late Gary Langford was a 32-year-teacher in the Beatrice Public Schools, and coached basketball and tennis. He was nominated both by students and faculty members….with students crediting him for the influence he has had on their chosen careers.
The late Margaret Brewster, a local graduate, enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps and was among the first group of 200 women officers selected for the regular Army. She retired in 1965 as the Deputy Chief of Foreign Military Training Division, based at the Pentagon. As a Women’s Army Corps member, she served in India during World War Two. She held degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Michigan, later serving as an instructor in physical education.
Carol Cook Geu has spent her life helping people enjoy the arts and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where she’s been on the teaching faculty for 30 years. She teaches history courses online and facilitates faculty-led study tours. She’s published 18 courses and has had an impact on people of all walks of life through creativity. Cook Geu is a 1978 graduate of Beatrice High School.
Terry Brethouwer retired this past year as Director of Building and Grounds for Beatrice Public Schools….serving the district for 38 years. Superintendent Jason Alexander describes Brethouwer as “the embodiment of dedication and commitment to his career.” He said Brethouwer’s commitment was to the kids, keeping buildings up to date and making sure they were transported safely to events and competitions. Brethouwer was instrumental in additional building requirements that allowed the district to be state-licensed for its after-school program.
The Beatrice Educational Hall of Fame and scholarship recognition program is Sunday at 2 p.m., at Beatrice High School.
