BEATRICE - An increasing COVID-19 positivity rate has prompted Beatrice Community Hospital to adjust its masking and visitation policy at the hospital and off-site locations.  The hospital’s positive testing rate was at 32% as of the middle of last week.

The changes, which became effective January 12th, require everyone entering one of the hospital’s facilities to wear a face mask.

All patients and visitors are encouraged to wear a medical-grade face mask because of their better effectiveness against the spread of the omicron variant, compared with cloth masks or other types.

The BCH cafeteria is closed to the general public though remains open for employees and patients who have appointments at the hospital.

Visitation in the acute care area of the hospital is being limited to one person, per day.  If a patient is a minor, both parents are allowed to visit.

BCH is barring visitors under the age of 18 and prohibiting any visitors in Covid rooms.
