Man injured in fall from downtown Beatrice roof
Roofing worker taken to Beatrice Community Hospital
BEATRICE – A man working for a roofing crew fell from a downtown Beatrice building roof Saturday, onto a secondary roof below.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue crews were sent to 506 Court Street…to the accident which happened above the Bargain Box, a downtown business.
Beatrice Fire Captain Corey Lieneman says a male worker, believed to be in his mid-30s fell about eight feet to the lower roof section, suffering injuries. He was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital in stable condition.
Fire and rescue personnel were sent to the scene at 12:02 p.m. Lienemann says rescue personnel reached the man through a window of an upstairs apartment at the building. Fire personnel brought ropes and a gurney to lower the man from the roof section, but instead were able to take him through the apartment window, and then to the hospital. The name of the injured man was not released.
It was not immediately known if the roof work was being done because of the damage downtown from a late Wednesday afternoon severe storm line that moved across southeast Nebraska.
Several buildings sustained roof, window or structural damage in that storm.
