The system packed thunderstorm wind gusts of up to 75 miles-per-hour and brought at least two tornado reports in western Kansas.
The National Weather Service says an observer reported a tornado hitting a golf course at Sharon Springs, Kansas, taking down power lines. The town is in far western Kansas near the Kansas-Colorado border.
A second reported tornado was observed near Tice, Kansas, in the southwest part of the state.
The thunderstorm system was expected to move through the Midwest quickly, giving way to clearing skies.
