BEATRICE – Beatrice Fire and Rescue and police units were sent to a couple of late Wednesday afternoon accidents that happened as snowy weather and strong winds began to ice over roadways.

Authorities were sent to a two-vehicle accident near Second and Grant Streets, two blocks north of the Gage County Museum.   A female injured in the accident was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital.  A male was also injured, but not transported for treatment. The accident, at 3:47 p.m., happened during light snow pushed by 40-to-45 mile-per hour northwest winds.

Less than an hour later at 4:39 p.m. fire and rescue and police units were sent to the seven-hundred block of West Court Street where a vehicle apparently struck a concrete retaining wall, off the north side of the highway.  A Beatrice Fire Department paramedic says a male and a female were taken to BCH for treatment.

Police also investigated at least two other minor fender-benders yesterday during the snowy weather.
