Inmate cited for alleged assault on Gage County corrections officer
Officer allegedly assaulted while trying to restrain inmate
BEATRICE – A Gage County jail inmate has been cited as a result of an incident that injured a corrections officer at the detention facility.
Sheriff’s officers say in late October that an inmate identified as 37-year-old Scott Brown had become disruptive in jail and spat on a corrections officer, while the officer was attempting to restrain him.
Sheriff’s authorities say the inmate assaulted the corrections officer when the officer’s foot was injured by a heavy metal chair, crashing on top of his foot.
After an investigation examining video, reports and statements, Brown was arrested in mid-November for assault with bodily fluid on a public safety officer and third-degree assault of the officer.
Brown was cited and faces a court hearing in December. He has been in jail since early September, charged with violating a domestic abuse protection order and stalking.
