Highway 77 crash kills two on Wednesday evening

Two people are dead after a crash on Highway 77 Wednesday afternoon.

HALLAM, Neb. - Two people are dead after a crash on Highway 77 Wednesday evening. 

Lancaster County Sheriff's deputies, Nebraska State Patrol, and emergency medical units were dispatched to Highway 77 and Hallam Rd. around 4:00 p.m.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Capt. John Vik says a Ford F-150 pickup collided with a Buick that entered the intersection. Vik says deputies encountered three victims upon arrival. 

Vik said one occupant in the Buick died at the scene, and another was taken to the hospital where they later died. The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

LSO expects Highway 77 to remain closed until at least 7:00 p.m. 

Deputies remain on site to further investigate.
