Rhule: Sack problems go beyond offensive line, Huskers turn attention to Maryland

LINCOLN, Neb. - After a 38-27 win over Michigan State, the Huskers are preparing for their first true road game of the season as they travel to Maryland this weekend. 

Despite picking up a two score win, problems persisted on the offensive line as Dylan Raiola was sacked five times in the win - that's now a dozen sacks taken in the last two weeks.

However, Head Coach Matt Rhule says issues pertaining to those sacks go beyond the offensive line. 

"I saw a lot of good things, but I saw a lot of things that need to be improved," Rhule said. "Some of those sacks are on them [offensive line] some are on other people. Right now, Emmett Johnson is third in the league in rushing so the narrative that we can't run the ball is silly... Are we giving up too many sacks? Yes. What I love about Dylan Raiola is he stands up on the one and pats his chest and says 'that's on me'.. He was holding the ball for too long."

Nebraska now heads on the road for the first time since week one against Cincinnati in Kansas City. They'll face off with a 4-1 Maryland team who enters off their first loss of the season, 24-20 to Washington. 

Rhule says the Terps offense, led by quarterback Malik Washington, poses some challenges. 

"They got a dynamic young quarterback, a five-star recruit who's athletic and a passer," Rhule said. "When you have that combination of being a passer first, but being athletic so you can extend plays. They throw a lot of deep balls. Their wideouts can run."

The Huskers and Terps kick off at 2:30 CT on Saturday afternoon.
