BEATRICE, Neb. - Improvements are in store for the heart of downtown Beatrice.

On Monday night the Beatrice City Council awarded a bit of $98,921.68 to R.L. Tiemann Construction to make improvements to Fourth and Fifth streets, from Market to Ella. Upgrades will be made to roads, sidewalks, and landscaping.

Councilman Terry Doyle says he believes the most important aspect of the project is the public being aware of it going on.

"It's just very important to me, the downtown committee, the city administration, and everybody knows exactly what we're doing here," Doyle said. "It's going to be a change on those four blocks."

Funding is being made possible through a grant.
