BEATRICE – A two-vehicle collision over the noon hour Tuesday reduced southbound traffic to one lane for about a half-hour, in north Beatrice.

A Beatrice Police Sergeant says a northbound pickup and a southbound Ford Mustang collided on the southbound lanes of U.S. 77, at the intersection with Sargent Street.

The sergeant said it appears the Mustang had just passed a semi with the car’s turn signal still on….and the pickup driver may have thought the car’s driver was going to turn east.  The car, which was in the inside southbound lane, skidded but could not avoid the collision as the pickup turned west onto Sargent.

The car’s front end struck the passenger side of the pickup.  Both drivers were checked out at the scene by Beatrice Fire and Rescue but not transported for treatment.

Beatrice Police, a Nebraska State Patrol Officer and Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the 12:50 p.m. collision.
