Lura Hazel (Lamb) Ticnor, a woman known for her compassion, dedication, and supportive nature, embarked on her final journey on March 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as colorful and captivating as her personality. Born on April 9, 1936, near Bloomfield, IA, to parents Keith and Hazel (Hunt) Lamb, Lura lived an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and accomplishments. Known for her witty humor, Lura brought joy to every occasion and made each moment count. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Lura embodied this sentiment, her heart being her guiding light, that touched many lives.

Lura was a proud graduate of Wymore High School, Class of 1954, and held a special place in her heart for her classmates, often planning and hosting their class reunions. She was a passionate music enthusiast and a former band member, and enjoyed attending University Band Days. Lura and John Ticnor were married on September 22, 1957 and they had three sons, John Jr. (born at rest), Scott Richard and Kevin Lee. She and John later divorced.

Lura found immense joy in her hobbies, which included traveling, attending her sons' sporting events, bowling, and cheering for Big Red football. Her dedication was evident in her role as a driver for Everett Jones for many years, and as a Den Mother for seven years. Her commitment to her community as an active member and former Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, for which she received a 50-year pin. She had worked at BSDC, Beatrice Public Library, and had been a receptionist for Dr. Paquette. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as a member of the First Christian Church. However, what mattered most to Lura was her family, to whom she was a pillar of strength and love.

She leaves behind two sons, Scott (Katie) Ticnor of Beatrice, NE., Kevin (Joyce) Ticnor of Arizona. Grandchildren John, Jayme (Jeff), Jacie (Jeremy), Desiree, Chelsea (Jake) and Chantel (Andrew). Great Grandchildren: Karly, Hayley, Carter, Kaysen, Savannah, Hayden, Addilynn, Waylon, Everly, Brandon (Ashley), Allen, and Tarstin (Weston). Great Great Grandchildren Kylie, Katherine, Cameron, Olivia, Waylon, and Gunnar, special nephew and niece Charles and Trish, as well as many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son John Jr., and brother Keith (Pat) Lamb.
