BEATRICE – Three southeast Nebraska bridges have been selected as qualifying for the State of Nebraska Bridge Match program.   The NDOT announced this month that the Gage County bridges are located near the junction of Nebraska Highways 4 and 103, over Soap Creek….and near the junction of Nebraska Highway 41 and Spur 34-b…..at Shaw Creek.

Over recent years, the NDOT says the Chestnut Road bridge in western Gage County has been the scene of two fatality accidents.  The bridge is 58-feet long with a deck width of 18.8 feet.

The 82nd Road bridge in the north part of the county is 52-feet long with a deck width of 18.7 feet.

Both bridges would be replaced with concrete box culverts.   The Soap Creek project totals an estimated cost of approximately $580,000, with over $271,000 of that cost reimbursed through the bridge match program.

The Shaw Creek project is estimated to cost over $487,000…..with reimbursement totaling roughly $228,000.

A project in Jefferson County along 711 Road….the PWF….was announced as part of the Bridge Match program.  It’s located near Nebraska Highways 8 and 15, over a tributary to Big Indian reservoir. The bridge…a 50-foot steel girder structure built in 1935… would be replaced by a concrete slab deck at an estimated cost of $955,000.  About $500,000 of that would be reimbursed through the Bridge Match program.
