BEATRICE – One person was reported injured as a line of powerful thunderstorms moved across northeast Kansas into northwest Missouri, Wednesday.

Emergency management reported that some buildings and power poles were damaged in Vermillion, Kansas…and one person was injured when a structure slid off its foundation.  The Marshall County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office there reported damage to outbuildings, trees and power poles.

The storms struck late morning and the early afternoon.  Trees were brought down by high winds in Seneca, Kansas and a truck was blown off U.S. Highway 36.  At least two reports to the National Weather Service had winds in the area at over 70-miles-per-hour.

In southeast Nebraska, a manufacturing plant in Falls City lost about three thousand to four thousand square feet of its roof from high winds.  Trees were brought down by high winds.  In two cases, trees went through the roofs of homes….and there was significant debris cleanup.

Near the Nebraska-Kansas border….southwest of the village of Preston…six train cars were reported leaning because of a tree falling onto the train.

Weather officials received a report from six miles northeast of Falls City…of a home with a wall blown in…and a bus displaced by high winds…with power lines down in that area.

There were several damage reports from locations in nearby northwest Missouri.  Damage reports from around Maryville, Missouri and surrounding small towns included downed poles and wires, power outages, trees and building damage and grain bins blown down.
