BEATRICE – The Big Blue River in Beatrice looked more like the Big Muddy early Friday morning.

The National Weather Service reports the river in Beatrice had risen about seven feet over a 48-hour period, from midnight July 3rd to early Friday, July 5th.

Heavy rain and runoff upstream brought the river level to about 10-and-a-half feet in Beatrice….still well below the flood stage of 18 feet.   The river stage was stabilizing, going into Friday.

The forecast includes a chance of additional showers and thunderstorms through the weekend.
