Box culverts could replace closed bridge, east of Pickrell

County officials are hoping to get the area reopened for this year's harvest period

BEATRICE – Gage County officials are looking at solutions to that closed bridge over Indian Creek…at the east edge of Pickrell.  The bridge along West Pickrell Road was shut down and barricaded after an inspection showed deficiencies with the deck of the structure.


Gage County Board member Terry Jurgens says the county is looking at some cost estimates and is leaning toward a solution. "Start the procedure to go with triple-fourteens....box culverts...and as quickly as possible. There's a lot of engineering has to be done....with hopes of being completed by September 1."


That would get the crossing reopened by harvest season.  Traffic has been detoured north of the closed bridge along Southwest 2nd Road.
