YORK, Neb. -- Two people from California were arrested after more than 30 pounds of meth was found near York.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a trooper saw a Kia Sportage on Interstate 80, going east near York, at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Kia was reportedly following too closely to another vehicle and a traffic stop was performed.

According to authorities, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity and searched the vehicle. A reported 33 pounds of methamphetamine was found in a duffle bag in the back of the Kia, along with a small amount cocaine and marijuana.

Officials said they arrested 29-year-old Uriel Alcala and 30-year-old Christofer Cruz, both of California. They were lodged in the York County Jail for possession of meth and possession with intent to deliver.
