Southeast Nebraska gets in on a white Christmas

BEATRICE – Snowplows and graders were out putting the final touches on a Christmas holiday snowstorm that dumped from three to five inches in areas of southeast Nebraska.
Beatrice street crews were removing snow ridges from downtown streets in the early hours of Wednesday, clearing off the remainder of what turned out to be a white Christmas. The remnants of the weather system were pushing off to the east early Wednesday, prompting a winter weather advisory to be issued for areas of southern Iowa and northern Missouri….where one to three inch snow totals were expected.
Over a 48 hour period, areas from Beatrice to Lincoln received four inches of snow, while lesser amounts fell closer to the southeast corner of Nebraska.
The heaviest amounts of snow….up to eight inches, fell in a wide area of northern and northeast Nebraska….with six inch amounts common in nearby regions, according to the National Weather Service.
