FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Fairbury is hosting Creep Night at Crystal Springs Campground Saturday.

The event is set for campers to show off their Halloween decorations and for families to have fun at the campsite.

“There’s going to be a bunch of campers out there,” said Brian Schmidt, Promotion Manager for the event. “They’ve got their sites decorated up with Halloween decorations. Most of them are going to be handing out candy to the kids, just doing normal trick or treating through the park. It’s from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., which is the official time but we are encouraging people to come later because a lot of the displays are lighted. They look better after dark.”

The event is open to anyone who wants to participate.

There will also be trick or treating and activities for children as well.

“You don’t have to sign up, there are no fees,” Schmidt said. “We do have some people who will do a trunk or treat. A couple of people bring their vehicles out and set up for the evening, you don’t have to have a camper. So, yeah, if you want to participate that way, just come on out.”

The city has been doing this event for nearly 12 years and Schmidt said it gets bigger every year.

“It is pretty neat. It is really cool to go out there and see the park that full,” Schmidt said. “Seeing a camper at every campsite, kids running around the playground. It’s just nice to see the park being utilized that way.”

The city will host a similar event in December but with a competition over Christmas lights.
