Woman to serve prison, for motor vehicle death in Tecumseh

TECUMSEH - A woman has been sentenced to prison for a motor vehicle death.
Johnson County District Court Judge Rick Schreiner sentenced Chelsy Kress to 3-4 years in prison for Failure to Render Aid and 3 years incarceration for Motor Vehicle Homicide. Kress was also sentenced to 2 years for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The charges stemmed from the death of Logan Ascheman on March 17th of this year. Two of the sentences will run consecutively, but concurrent with the third count. Kress is also ordered to serve three years of post-release supervision.
Also on Monday, Judge Schreiner sentenced state prison inmate Bailey Brown to a 15-25 year prison term for First Degree Assault and 4 years incarceration for Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
Those convictions are connected to the assault of another inmate at the Tecumseh State Prison on April 3, 2021. The sentences will be served consecutively...and consecutive to any other sentence currently being served.
